Adland’s ‘Brain Drain’

For my Masters dissertation I investigated careers and talent management within UK advertising agencies in light of the ‘brain drain’ faced by the industry. The qualitative study was awarded a distinction and also earned me the title of ‘student of the year’ for the part-time MSc Human Resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting a thorough literature review, drawing on references from inside and outside the advertising industry.
  • Designing, facilitating, and analysing a series of semi-structured interviews.
  • Writing the final 20,000-word dissertation.


Sam was an insightful and diligent student who gained a distinction in his MSc HR through both hard work and critical thinking. He also produced one of the outstanding dissertations of his year, and went on to do some teaching on the course.
